Tutorial N ° 17 : Walk in Brittany in spring.

Arche paper 300g / m2, cloth grain.Colors: gum-gutte yellow, natural sienna or yellow ocher, carmine, permanent pink, brown madder, burnt sienna, burnt umber, cerulean blue, cobalt blue, Prussian blue, indigo, neutral shade ofwinsor and newton.Brushes: Dalbe 200, pure marten, n ° 8, Raphaël 303, pure petit gris, n ° 2.

2. Preparatory watercolor drawing.



3. Drawing transferred to watercolor paper.



4. Start painting the girl's oilskin with a carmine wash, add in the cool, small touches of cobalt blue and cerulean blue in the shadows.



5. Paint the skirt with a more sustained wash of brown madder from winsor and newton (mixture of burnt sienna and carmine).



6. Paint the down jacket with indigo, force for the shadows using the same shade more loaded with pigments.



7. In darker parts, step up in the humid to indicate volumes.Work the down jacket, leaving whites that will bring light.


8. Paint the pants with a mixture of cobalt blue and cerulean blue.Under the down jacket, intensify the shade with indigo.



9. Paint the girl's very light hair with natural sienna, leaving plenty of white to suggest the blonde.For the boy's hair, then pass a little burnt sienna.Apply a very diluted permanent rose wash on the waxed.



10. Accentuate the pleats of the skirt with brown madder.Paint the tights with the neutral shade of winsor and newton (or black).



11. Paint the shoes with brown madder for the girl and indigo for the boy.



12. Start painting the meadow after having thoroughly wet the paper with a mixture of gutta and Prussian blue and natural sienna in the yellow parts.



13. For the hair, further define the shadows with burnt umber and for the girl with burnt sienna, work with a very fine brush.Paint the trees with greens composed of cambogia and Prussian blue and in darker areas add indigo to the first mixture.Let dry.



14. Add the details of the girl's shoes with brown madder, the shadows of the boy's pants with indigo.Paint the leaves in the background with darker touches without darkening too much.
