Tutorial N°21 : Going on vacation.

Paper: Hahnemühle watercolor, fine grain, 300g / m2.

Colors: cadmium yellow, yellow ocher, carmine, ceruleum blue, natural umber and burnt umber, indigo, neutral tint of Winsor and Newton and Cotman green.

Brush: a Manet 448 small pure squirrel brush n° 3/0 and a Raphaël Kolinsky France 8408 brush, n° 2.

1. Picture of the caravan.

2. Sketch for the watercolor.

3. Drawing transferred to watercolor paper.

4. Paint the sky with very liquid blue ceruleum. Proceed with strokes and leave some paper white for the clouds.

5. Paint the trees in the background with strokes of yellow ocher, Cotman green. Make projections by tapping the paint-soaked brush. Let dry.

6. Darken the background with a mixture of Cotman green and indigo and make projections of the same green. Paint the meadow with yellow ocher, the grass with Cotman green.

7. Put yellow ocher on the road in the foreground. Let dry. Paint the raw umber of the trailer with neutral tint. Project a little neutral tint by tapping on the brush.

8. The young woman's t-shirt is painted with carmine, the little boy's t-shirt with raw umber. The little boy's jeans, the girl's dress in ceruleum blue. Paint the characters' hair with burnt umber. Ditto for the interior of the trailer. The window curtains are painted with carmine strockes, the yellow strip of the caravan with ocher, the wheels in neutral color. Let dry.Finally, pass a light shade of blue ceruleum on the trailer.
